No longer a luxury item, a tailored suit does more than make you look good.

The tourist center in Hong Kong is actually across the bay in Kowloon, a claustrophobic city with a main drag that is a Las Vegas Boulevard of the Far East, just substitute casinos with electronics and jewelry shops selling the cheap and souvenir stands for the hordes. Storefronts that offer to make tailored
suits and shirts also are big business in Kowloon. Greeters representing the tailor shops meet tourists arriving on the Star Ferry from Hong Kong are famed for its low-cost, high-quality tailored suites.
I have read all about this phenomena in guidebooks and kicked around the idea of buying a suit when I traveled to Hong Kong last year. But I was ambivalent. On one hand, how could you turn down the opportunity for a tailored suit at Men’s warehouse price? When would I ever, in my life, have a chance . . .
